How the fear and greed score is calculated

The score is a weighted blend of market breadth (45%, the share of the top 100 coins up over 24h), momentum (35%, the average normalised 24h move of the top 50), and large-cap leadership (20%, the share of the top 10 by market cap that are up). All inputs are public market data.

How to read the score

• 0–24 — Extreme Fear: most participants are selling. Historically a contrarian buy signal.
• 25–49 — Fear: market pessimistic; may be oversold.
• 50 — Neutral: balanced sentiment.
• 51–74 — Greed: positive momentum; watch for overextension.
• 75–100 — Extreme Greed: often precedes corrections.
